  1. Install Python 3.12+ and VS Code, then open a new folder named api-camp-practice.
  2. In the VS Code terminal run python -m venv .venv, activate it, then run python -m pip install requests pytest playwright pytest-playwright.
  3. Run python -m playwright install chromium, create main.py, and copy the starter code from the editor.
  4. Read the lesson's Why this matters and Build it step by step, then replace every TODO and pass.
  5. Use Run Code for a quick structure check and Check Solution for every requirement. Then run the lesson's real terminal command locally.

Important: this page checks code structure safely; it cannot execute Python or contact an API. The “Run it for real” section in every lesson gives you the exact local command.

Plans and optional offersFree course access, Project Pack, and guided-pilot status

Free course available · paid pilot under validation

Build the pieces free. Validate a production-shaped portfolio sprint separately.

The working course teaches requests, authentication, pytest fixtures, lifecycle cleanup, Playwright API testing, and failure diagnosis. The proposed guided pilot would help a small group integrate those pieces into one reproducible portfolio repository; its demand, dates, price, delivery capacity, support, and policies are not yet verified.

  • Available: eight self-paced tutorial tracks
  • Available: local progress export and certificates
  • Available: complete recorded walkthrough
  • Available: Portfolio Code learning lab
  • Proposed pilot: CI-backed portfolio repository and bounded code review

Python career foundation

Add practical Python to your résumé.

Python was designed to make useful code easier to create, read, and maintain. It shares the core structures found in other programming languages while offering clear syntax and powerful built-in tools that make everyday programming work more approachable.

API Camp takes you from variables, decisions, and loops to reusable functions, exceptions, files, classes, data models, and asynchronous code. You will work with Python collections such as lists and dictionaries, then apply those skills to scripts, API clients, pytest suites, and browser automation.

Current course scope: practical scripts, data structures, APIs, testing, automation, and introductory desktop GUI work with Canvas shapes, labels, buttons, callbacks, and layout.

Start clearlyVariables, strings, conditions, loops, lists, and dictionaries
Build reliablyTuples, functions, exceptions, files, classes, and data models
Apply professionallyAPI clients, pytest, Playwright, async code, GUI widgets, and debugging

Use Python with growing skill and confidence in code you can explain, test, and include in a practical portfolio.

Planned guided-cohort curriculum

Portfolio Code

A 29-brief curriculum is prepared for Python domain modeling, pytest acceptance checks, Playwright user journeys, and a provider-neutral API + LLM project. It will be released through the guided pilot only after the delivery and evidence gates pass.

  • 29 practical product briefs
  • Python domain-model starters
  • pytest acceptance tests
  • Playwright browser checks
Included after pilot validation

Watch once before challenge one. Captions are burned into the video and the full transcript is below.

    Read the complete walkthrough transcript
    1. Install Python and VS Code. Confirm Python with python --version.
    2. Create a practice folder and virtual environment, activate it, and install requests, pytest, Playwright, and pytest-playwright.
    3. Install Chromium with python -m playwright install chromium.
    4. Choose a challenge, read why the technique matters, copy the starter into main.py, and complete one numbered step at a time.
    5. Use Run Code, then Check Solution. Read each failed requirement as the next specific edit—not as a generic error.
    6. Copy the lesson's local command into your terminal. A passing browser check proves the required structure; a passing local command proves the code really runs.
    7. If it fails, compare the expected result, troubleshooting notes, indentation, spelling, packages, and virtual environment. Re-run until green.
